need help resolution

okay so my monitor is a 24" AOC lcd and i want to use 1920x1080 (or 1200) but my pc (windows 7) only lets me up to 1280x1024

What monitor do you have? Is it a wide screen monitor? If windows only lets you go up to 1280x1024 that provides a clue that something may be amiss. If your monitor cannot do 1080P there isn't anything you can do about it.

hey there. it is a wide screen. it used to work perfectly before, 1920x1080 or 1200 cant remember, but recently i reset my pc to factory settings and i cant get it working smoothly again. (im quite sure i downlaoded a driver for it to work nicely, but i cant remember what was it.

it says the device is standard vga adapter ? Maybe you need to install/reinstall your gfx card drivers and you should get the correct range of screen modes.

Ahhh, that may do it. Start by making sure you have your graphics driver installed, if you do and still have limited graphics selections check the monitor for a model number and hunt for a driver based on that.

The one that goes with the graphics card in your machine. Find out what the manufacturer is (Intel, nVidia, AMD/ATi) go to their site, under graphics it should have an installer that will auto determine the right driver for you.
