I think your best bet would be to just replace it. Here's an HP refurbished with a core2 duo, 2GB ddr2 ram and a copy of win 7 for only $99 with free shipping. You can barely buy a copy of windows 7 for that price and it would be much faster than what you have. Basically buying windows 7 and getting a free computer.

Similar in a Dell, also for $99 with free shipping.

  2. honestly your better off saving that money on buying a new computer. the ram upgrade or hard drive upgrade wont be worth the money
  3. OK THx for the response u guys. I'll probably end up buying one of those since I just got that one from the dump.

Would you know if either is overclockable at all?

And could you give some suggestions on a cheap wireless card to go with tht? (PCI or USB )
  4. I also agree to buy a new system rather than trying to upgrade an old pc. Just a suggestion, but I would look on your local craigslist first before buying a refurbished pc. The ones going used on craigslist are generally much better than what you can find for the same price online.

    Here's a cheap USB adapter:

I'm not familiar with any OEM computer that can be overclocked. Normally they have the bios locked down pretty solid, but the core2duo is the faster of those two.

My pick for a cheap wireless card would be this one.
