I have a Compaq presario 5123sr

256mb PC 100 sdram
Stock Compaq motherboard
Windows xp installed

OK now I have $50 to speed things up a little so i was looking at getting a 512mb stick of ram and somw kind of cheap graphics card

Do y'all have any suggestions as to what I could get to help this old man out? Lol

I think your best bet would be to just replace it. Here's an HP refurbished with a core2 duo, 2GB ddr2 ram and a copy of win 7 for only $99 with free shipping. You can barely buy a copy of windows 7 for that price and it would be much faster than what you have. Basically buying windows 7 and getting a free computer.

Similar in a Dell, also for $99 with free shipping.

OK THx for the response u guys. I'll probably end up buying one of those since I just got that one from the dump.

Would you know if either is overclockable at all?

And could you give some suggestions on a cheap wireless card to go with tht? (PCI or USB )

I'm not familiar with any OEM computer that can be overclocked. Normally they have the bios locked down pretty solid, but the core2duo is the faster of those two.

My pick for a cheap wireless card would be this one.
