Any Samsung SSD I know of has standard SATA ports, one for porter, one for data. There is no adapter needed.

It has a Sata port, I took out my old hard drive put this new one in *samsung 840 pro and tried to format it booting a windows cd first... it says that media test failed - check cable
no booting device found.

Please post the complete specs of your system and the windows version your are trying to install. You might have to install the so called F6 driver for your motherboard. Do you see the SSD in bios? Is it recognized there?
