More about install hdd computer
  1. is there a reason why you do not want to just install it directly using the laptop?
  2. It's better to install the OS on whatever computer it's going to be used on. Transferring is not advisable.
  3. The reason is the laptop is pretty messed up so it would be easy if i could just like mount it as a virtual drive and somehow install it onto the laptop hdd
  4. If you install an os on your desktop, it's going to load all the drivers for your desktop & almost certainly will not even boot on your laptop.
It's next to, if not impossible to force drivers on to a HD that is in a computer w/ different hardware.
  5. microsoft told me that it was possible but wouldnt tell me how to do it.. the other issue is the laptop doesent have a dvd player and i only have 1gb usb flashdrivers so the only option would be soemhow install it off of a sd card if thats even possible
  6. by messed up do you mean that windows install is failing?

if so, you should be able to boot from the win7 disk and format your hard drive on the laptop and then proceed with a full reinstall.

if you are not able to do this or if it has another type of failure then you need to be more specific.

edit: saw your new post about this.

generally it is not a good idea to try to install the os using a different system.

  8. knowing the situation better...

it sounds as if the first thing to try would be windows install via flash drive. you may need to buy a bigger drive though however this should not cost much at all.

you may even just be able to do a windows repair instead.

what file? did you try replacing it?

it wont even boot now, it does the boot screenm goes to windows reapir, says it cant fix it then reboots, ive tried to fix it and i just scred it up more, the only thing i have is an sd caard, dont see why it would be any differnt then usb
  10. How can i get the iso file onto the sd card so that i can install it on the laptop?
  11. A windows repair should fix most boot errors.

About getting the ISO to the SD card your gonna need either a: SD to USB adapter or one of those SD bays, I forget what they are called.

Also microsoft has pretty helpful articles about doing a USB windows install. (installing windows FROM a USB not to a USB.)

Here is a method to install Windows on another computer and then transfer that HDD back to the laptop: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/135077-windows-7-installation-transfer-new-computer.html

I've never used it but Microsoft says that it will work.
