Computer Sound Not Working

I haven't been able to get sound out of my computer speakers for quite a while. If I unplug the speakers (Logitech) and just play music off my phone they still work, which makes me think it's my sound card that's the problem. I've tried plugging the speakers into the front and back audio jacks on my tower, but neither will work. If I'm playing music on my computer and open up the mixer I can see that it thinks music is playing, but nothing is coming out. Do I need to get a new sound card? Is there something else that could be the problem?

Solution
Try plugging it in to on board audio since you said you have a sound card. If it still does not work then check to see if you are not in HDMI audio mode by right clicking the audio icon in the bottom left and clicking playback devices. When you play a song or something with audio in it a bar will be moving up and down on one of them. Tell me what one has the bars moving.

+1 to opening "playback devices" on your computer. It should be accessible from the sound icon on your windows bar. If you have a different kind of computer let us know.

Anyway if its an HDMI device just change the main device by right clicking the one that says "Speakers" and click properties, then at the bottom it will say "Device usage" and change that to "Use this device (enable)".
