I have a brand new Supermicro X8DTL-6F motherboard. It runs fine with one of the CPUs in socket 1 and will not work with a single CPU in socket 2. I have identical CPUs and the memory is what is recommended. When I run the single CPU in socket 1, boots fine and the fan runs slow in the beginning. When I add the second CPU, the fans run high speed and no boot??? All peripherals are removed running bare with memory and CPUs. Any ideas on what to try next? New motherboard, CPUs work fine individually and are matched.

Have you tried both processors in the second socket?
Did you install memory in the second bank next to socket 2?
