Windows 7 causing my keyboard to stop?

So my problem sprung out of nowhere just the other day.

I like to consider myself a pretty tech-savvy guy, but even after consulting a few people I know, I'm stumped.
For some reason, every time I play some sort of media (i.e. an itunes song, a youtube video, a video on vlc/media player/GOM, or even a game) my keyboard freezes, and won't start working again till whatever's making noise at the time stops. Even as I write this, I'm getting facebook messages which is causing it to freeze up on me. Skype calls also do this.

Solutions that I've tried:
1) Plugging it into a different USB slot. Changed nothing, still only targeted the keyboard, even if I plugged the mouse into to slot the keyboard usually is in.
2) Uninstalling keyboard drivers in device manager. This just made it re-install the keyboard drivers once I plugged it back in, and the same issue continued.
3) Using an older, simpler keyboard to test to see if the fault was with the newer one. Nope, still did the same thing.
4) Error checked my local Disk. Not much to say here, didn't accomplish much.
5) Got every single windows update it would let me get my hands on.
6) Update my graphics drivers.
7) Updated my keyboard drivers.
8) Turned on the legacy settings in my BIOS setting.
9) Disabled USB selective suspend settings in the power options.
10) Attempted to do a system restore. Didn't happen I'm afraid, some weird shadow copy error that I managed to fix, but only by erasing my previous save points.

The thing is that the keyboard is fine.
Even the computer seems to admit that there isn't a thing wrong with it.
The drivers are working fine, it comes up as having no problems in the devices and printers section, and I'm at my wits end here. I can't seem to find any other thread of forum online with someone having the same issues as me.

Anyway, any sort of assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Do you have you access to PS/2 keyboard (& socket on PC) to see if problem is related to USB rather than keyboard.

I have had a USB keyboard suffering interference from a USB wireless adapter which I cured by using an extension cable for the usb wireless adapter.
