I think I brought a broken graphics card.

Specs: ASUS M5A97 R2.0 motherboard
AMD FX 8-Core Black Edition FX-8350
Cooler Master iGreen 600W Power Supply
8GB RAM

I was looking to upgrade my graphics card and I saw a load of XFX R9 290's listed on eBay for £180. He said he refurbished them and if he didn't have 500 feedback with 100% positive I would not of even considered it, but I brought one and now it doesn't work. I have the same problem but its random in how it happens, the problem being the screen just turns black and forces me to reset my computer.
It can run fine if I go into CCC and set the power limit to -50% (I think as I have switch to my older graphics card) and clock speed below the middle line. But if I go any higher I run the risk of the black screen happening again, maybe its my power supply not being strong enough to run the card as the R9 uses a 6pin and 8pin connector to power it and my current 7850 HD only uses a 6 pin. Also my power supply is pretty old as it was used in a friends previous computer for 3 years and mine for a year.
So do you think the card is broke or is my power supply not strong enough? it seems weird that the card would work perfectly when I lower the power usage but crash when I higher it. Also this morning my computer would not power up but it works fine after I swapped the graphics cards around...

Ok, I have read some forums and stuff and people have been saying 650w is more than enough to power the R9. I just assumed if 650w was MORE than enough I could get away with 600w. Thank you.
