My new power supply has an 8-pin CPU connector that splits into two 4-pin connectors. I only need a single 4-pin connector. What should I do with the other 4-pin connector? It doesn't seem right to just let it dangle.

That's what you do. Just let it hang there. If it bugs you that much you can fold it back up the length of the wire and tie it to it.

If I just let it dangle, am I taking a risk that the unused connector might contact something with metal and cause a short circuit?

Hi Bulldog17
just tape it to the cable with some electrical tape

I actually used a cable tie to hold the other connector to the cable. Electrical tape would probably work just as well. I didn't want the glue to eventually dry out, what with all the fans blowing air. Probably didn't need to worry. Probably didn't need to worry about the other connector to begin with.

No, it won't short on anything. The cables are contained in the connector. So they won't make contact with anything. As I said, just let it hang, or tape it back up. Won't make a difference either way.
