I'm currently using my mobile data as my Internet source, as it's cheaper and easier. I have one question that has been bugging me, I have to USB tether my Internet as my computer lacks a WiFi dongle :/  From where I tether my computer I get 2 bars h+ on my phone, so that 100-300kb/s download speed and a relatively high ping. The thing is there are spots at the house where I can get full bars of reception which leads to better download speeds etc. My question is should I consider buying a WiFi dongle for my computer so I can use a hotspot or should I still with the USB tethering? I can't move the computer, and a dongle would be 20 euro or so.

I intend to do a lot of downloading/streaming/online gaming, so would the ping be lower with the hotspot?

Thanks in advance :)

I don't think ping will improve, but speed should.

Consider getting one of the ASUS routers, instead of a mobile hotspot. With many of them you can plug in a mobile dongle and use that as internet connection. That way you get a proper home network with great wifi, and can use cabled network if you want.

A tip: Get a long 5m USB extension cable, and connect between your PC and the mobile dongle. Then you can move the dongle around, and maybe find a good spot right where you are. (I think a window is a good guess)
