Hi I have 16gb of kingston hyperx blu (blue version) in my system(2x 8gb sticks) 2 slots free

my question is can I mix my existing 2 sticks of blu with the red version to max out my system to 32GB? or will I need to stick to more of the same Blue version sticks?

It is not recommended to mix ram your system might not boot at all and if it does there could be performance issues. all ram is different they could be at different speeds or have different timing etc. So it is always recommended to use the same ram.

Those days are long gone. There's no guarantee a second set of DRAM will play with your current set, even if you get the same identical model....mixing DRAM can be and often is problematic, which is why DRAM is sold in a variety of packagings of number of sticks, the sticks in a package are tested to all work together and the XMP programming is done by the set (number of sticks in the package), if you do try and add a set and have problems give me a shout and we can probably (again no absolute guarantee) get them to play nice, DRAM is sort of a specialty of mine ;)
