Currently have a 7770 Ghz Edition, Which i'm 90% sure is broken.

I'm planning to upgrade to a Z97 Mobo + i3 4130 but before that I'll be buying my GPU since my 7770 has now broken. What I would like to know is will the Phenom II X4 925 bottleneck an R9 280X?

I'll be using this configuration for about 3 - 4 months which is why it's important.

I've also ordered a 430W CX Series Corsair PSU, When I build my full rig I'll swap out to a XFX 550W, but will the Corsair be able to run a Phenom ii X4 925 + R9 280X?

More about : phenom 925 280x bottlenecks

430w is not something i would recommend for long term, although it probably will work... For a while ;)  get that xfx.

As for the bottleneck, this cpu certainly will bottleneck asomewhat, but performance should still be very good.

Okay and how would both factors (bottlenecking and Power) affect the R9 270X? How would that perform?

You would cut the power usage by 80w and the graphics would not be bottlenecked, more balanced build.

I know the power would cut by 80w, but will the 430W be enough? Thereotically using Hexus' maximum power usage of the R9 270x (180w) during Far Cry 3, 430W would be fine, but I'm not 100% sure.

Also would the GPU not be Bottlenecked AT ALL?

Gpu gets less and less bottlenecked by your cpu the more you crank up the resolution and details. What details and resolution are you aiming at?

The psu would certainly work ok, but dont overclock.

Yeah I won't be overclocking.

I'll be trying to play on 1920x1080 Resolution and the highest settings possible, where I can get a minimum of 60FPS basically.

Really? The GPU gets less bottlenecked as the Resolution gets higher?

Also does the CX430 have the required connectors for the Sapphire R9 270X? I've read somewhere it does not, but that could just be pub talk.

Cx 430 certainly has one 6 pin power connector for vga, so yeah, it supports it.

However, since your graphics demands are quite high, the 270x just wont be fast enough for 60fps in all current games. And the psu as well, you will need at least 550w for 280x or 650w for 290 if you can go even further.

I would not worry about bottleneck at this point. Just up the details all the way, you will have pretty much same fps on low and high due to bottleneck, but that will most likely still be enough to play smooth. And definitely consider a cpu upgrade in a year or so.

Just to give you an insight... I am using 280x with ancient intel q9550, pretty similar in terms of performance to this athlon you have. Playing all the games at ultra on full hd, no issues at all. Fast and smooth. 650w seasonic psu and 8 gb of memory.

I've just been told this on another thread "The CX 430 only has 1 x 6/8 pin connector. The card will require 2".

Also my question was, will the Phenom II X4 925 bottleneck the R9 270X AT ALL?

Cheers for the help so far.

Yes, but very slightly, raising the details will negate this and after a certain point details will start hogging the gpu anyway, so cpu will become less of a bottleneck. If the card requires 2 connectors, you can use molex to 6 pin adapter. I would still suggest a better psu, because it is a better investment for your future builds, you can reuse it.
