depends on the resolution of your monitor, and the wattage of your power supply.

I would go for the 250X instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168..., for just 20 bucks extra. This will play games like BF4, Metro LL, Titanfall on low to medium settings on 1080p.

According to MSN740 on youtube. He uses the GPU i listed and runs BF4 on High with about 40 fps. :)

^---Hmm, maybe that's possible.

I heard since the time of these benchmarks release, they improved things for both game/graphics cards. You might get 10+fps added on to the numbers provided.

With that bad of a power supply though, I'd go with a 750ti since one is on sale for $110 right now. (It would get 30+fps on utlra in bf4)

If you can fit that into your budget I'd recommend it. If not, nothing wrong with the r7 250x.

Up to you if you want to buy refurbished. You won't have any warranty and will have an already used graphics card just to save $30 :)

I'll see what I can find for $80

Check out the card I posted, it's better and cheaper then the 250. At this price it's a great deal.

He doesn't want to spend more than $80, so the 260X falls off. There is the 250X and the 250 left, unless he's ok with refurbished ones.

... The card I posted is a brand new R7 260. It's only $70 and the card is in perfect condition. The box might have some scuff marks on it, but that's it.

PSU requirements? And will it bottleneck?

Fair enough, it was only $10 and you'd get it back, but I completely understand as we can play the "it's just $10 more" game all day :)

If you were to go with a refurb I'd go with the r7 260.
If you wanted new I'd go with the 250x.

So is the ASUS one from amazon out of the picture? Is it a good card? It seems cheap and I would buy it used.. Just would like to know if its a good card and if it would bottleneck

430W is enough for the card. Your CPU might be a slight bottleneck, but overall performance should be smooth.

And yes I meant the R7 260 lol.

Yes it is the same card in the picture. It's a great budget card, here's a link to some benchmarks:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-r7-260-revie...

As you can see the 260 has a nice lead over the 250.

Even though it says it is used, it's actually in brand new condition. Basically amazon has a policy where if there's even a fingerprint on the item they label it as a cosmetic imperfection.

^--- hm, that's a cool policy. :)

Unless the $40 free games that comes with the r7 250 is appealing to you Baily, the r7 260 seems to be a good choice.

Looking at this, you can clearly see that the 260 is much better than the 250. You do get $40 of free games, but i that won't make up smooth gameplay though. If you're ok with refurbished go 260 else 250

Some disappointing news, but just found out your PSU can only output 240W.

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Apevia-Turbolink...

Regardless if you went with a 250 or 290 you would still need a PSU upgrade.

No no no. that was the wrong PSU the one I have (Just looked in the case) is the Apevia ATX-4S420w

There is still the 750ti for $109. If you can manage to save for up, it should work. (somewhat sure; that looks like a pretty bad PSU)

Though your build is getting a bit dated and a total rebuild might be a good idea within the next year or ASAP. You can reuse the RAM/Case possibly, which would help lower costs.

I don't think that model will be much better. Apevia is a terrible brand all together.

Agreed. Not only that, but I can't find any info on that PSU and it might not have the right connectors/ any connectors at all for the graphics card.

New build mate, new build.

The 750ti runs off your PCI-E slot. It's the best option you have besides building new.

New decent power supply- $40
New graphics card-$80-120

Depending if you have ddr3 ram, you might only need $350-400 for a new build that will last you 3-5 years at medium settings for games. (reusing RAM, HDD, Case)

Just giving you options :)

Edit: nevermind about the RAM. You have ddr2

If the case and GPU are your only upgrades, this PSU will suffice:

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cx430

Depending on your upgrades in the future it might be better to get a higher wattage PSU instead.

You can't actually buy anything from pcpartpicker. It simply lists the different sites you can buy the item, and the prices for each site.

It shows that its 25$ but when I click the price to newegg its 45

Yes, more than fine for the r7 260.

Just to clear this up, when a card says "requires 500w" it's not talking about good quality power supplies. What they are talking about is the bad ones like the apevia. It's 450w but it can only put out 240w. A bad 500w could put out maybe 300w which would power such a card.

Does the card come with a DVI to VGA adapter and what kind of games can it run?
