Hi, so I have terrible WiFi in my basement, and I wanted to hook up another router via Ethernet to get better connection, my question is: if say, my modem/router is n300, but the second router is n750, will it keep the n750 speed, or will it be downgraded to n300, thanks

End to end network speeds depends on the performance of the slowest device in the chain.

WiFi performance is very environmentally dependent. You can have a 8 bazillion gigahooptie device, but if you're trying to push that signal through cement walls and several floors, no matter what equipment you have....it may suck.

Those advertised speeds n750, n300, whatever..are theoretical. Possible only if the two devices are right next to each other, with zero other interference.

Well thata the idea, tbe srcond router woild be in tbe basement, where thete is no interferance, but in this case should I just go with a cheaper n300 for my second router as well?

IMHO, you should get a device dedicated to extending an ethernet signal, rather than another router.

Either a WiFi repeater/bridge device, or powerline devices, or run a cat5 cable.
Another 'router' is simply wasted silicon. You have to turn most of it off to be used for what you want.

I'm not so sure, because I also need a few Ethernet outputs as well as the extended wifi

There are devices for that:
http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WA850RE-Universal-One-...

Extends wifi, and has an ethernet port. Plug a switch into the rj-45, and off you go.
