Hello!

I am looking for a laptop that my brother can take wherever he travels. Below are all the little details. Budget: $300 or less. I am buying this laptop for my brother today, his birthday is tomorrow.

- 11.6 Inches
- Thin and light
- 6 or more hours of battery life
- Good keyboard for a typist
- Would prefer a DVD drive if available
- HDD size does not matter, though I would prefer 250GB and up
- Screen res does not matter
- He wants to play Minecraft and Gmod both on low-medium settings
- Will use for movies and YouTube

You won't find a laptop like that for $300 unless used.

300 will buy a basic laptop that will lag a lot in Minecraft, even on low settings. 6 hours of battery life is also very tough to find in a laptop that can run any type of games.

You're looking at a $600 laptop if new. If used, look on craigslist so you can test what you find before bying.

You can go to Dell, Lenovo, HP and see what the lowest configurations available are, although for $300 they may not be running Windows.

What model? No $250 laptop will run Minecraft at past Low settings at low resolutions. There is a reason craigslist is filled with people selling cheap netbooks and tablets, people buy them because they are cheap, spend a week using them and figure out eventually that those devices can't do anything they want it to.

For $300 you either have to buy a used system or deal with the fact that the laptop will be good for basic use like documents and web browsing, it should handle HD movies, but not games.

Could be an old i5 and/or Quadro graphics card.
