First i decided to buy a zotac gt630 synery edition card, since my budget was less than 100$ and the card had a reasonable price to performance ratio. Then i came across the asus edition of r7 240 card which was at the same price level with good numbers(specifications) and moreover it was a new card in the market. Which one is better for me? I use my pc for mid range gaming.
My specs are: Intel i3 processor 2100@3.1Ghz(Sandy bridge)
Intel DH61WW MOBO
2 GB DDR3 ram@1333Mhz
Could someone also tell me whether the r7 240 is compatible with my MOBO?

1GB is enough for 1600x900. 1GB will not hold a card as weak-ish as an R7 240 or GT 630 back, so you don't really need to worry about the amount of VRAM. Pay attention to how fast it is instead, and whether it's DDR3 or GDDR5.

A 1GB GDDR5 card is generally better than a 2GB DDR3 card.
An R7 240 should be a bit quicker than a GT 630 according to specs, but I don't know how they really compare in real world performance, as I've never owned either card and haven't looked at detailed benchmarks.

Your CPU is alright, so you don't need to worry about that right away.

You should really have 4GB of RAM...

The 7750 is only around ~$20-30 more and it would be a more benefiting upgrade in my opinion, but if you are restricted to the price of the cards you've selected, than I would pick the an R7 240 with GDDR5 unless you can find a GT630 with GDDR5.

Will my MOBO support the r7 240? And if it does should i upgrade my ram? I am planning to increase my ram to 6gb.... I am having a monitor of res 1600x900. Is 1GB of vram enough or do i require 2GB?

Well the first thing I see is that your mobo only has two memory slots so you won't be able to put 6GB of RAM in there because memory doesn't come in 3GB sizes. Your mobo doesn't have a PCIe 3.0 port like the one supported by the R7 240 but the good news is that the 3.0 GPU is backwards compatible so you will still be able to use the R7 240 on your mobo and you won't notice a difference in gaming (maybe 1-2 FPS at the most). You might want to upgrade your mobo so you can expand to 8GB RAM which is the norm for gaming but as for now I think 4GB will suffice.

I'd say buy the R7 240.

Thank you for the replies! Now i have made my mind to go for the r7 240 1GB ddr5!Also I am planning to increase my ram to 6GB(1x2GB stick,1x4GB stick). Is this pair compatible with my MOBO? Or should i only install rams with the same memory?
