So today when I switched on my PC and tried to access my Toshiba Convio 500GB External HD it suddenly it just wasn't showing. I tried all sorts of stuff to make it work including reading on forums but to no avail.

I've even tried searching for it on Disk Manager but it's just not to be seen there. The only place it's visible is in Devices and Printers and is shown as 'External USB 3.0' without any function.

The situation is basically:
The HD is not detected on My Computer or Disk Manager although the connection sound on connecting USBs to the computer on Windows is heard.
The small white light on the HD is shining proper as it should and I can hear/feel the spinning.
My PC does not start-up/boot or shutdown when the HD is connected. (very strange)

Are you serious? Well it was almost always connected to the PC. I never knew it had to be disconnected when not in use. I don't think the f***ing user manual even said it had to. I don't think there was even a user manual.
Well I had my whole movie collection and stuff on it coz my PC HD was running out of space. I guess it's all gone now.

Thanks for the help though.
