I have finished building my computer and I am pretty happy with it
I have dual GTX 780's and dual 24" LCD I was going to add a third 24's but newegg sent me a member flyer about 28's which got me thinking (always dangerous)

I normally play games on a single screen and keep the other one for surfing the web, ripping videos converting 8mm etc...

2 of the new 28's would give me more Pixels two 4k monitors would be great but not sure if dual 780's could handle them the cheapest option would be add another 24

Option 1
Add a 3rd 24"

Option 2
Sell my 24's (maybe 100 bucks each)
get 2 28's leaning towards Asus Swift PG278Q (coming soon)

Option 3
Get 2 4k?
Unsure of model heard good and bad about all of them so far

Option 4
Get a single 28's and keep my dual 24's

If one of your important features is to surf while you play, 3 monitor Surround/Eyefinity will not help you, as they will take up all 3 monitors, without a screen to surf.

If you plan for 2 monitors, with 1 being used to surf, while the other is for gaming, then there is no need to make them the same monitor. The size and resolution will not matter on that 2nd monitor, so getting two Asus Swift PG278Q may be over kill. 1 of those would be good, and use one of your old monitors to surf. The same could be said for 2 4K monitors, though 4k is probably a good thing for the desktop as well.

I can only assume you have no intentions of gaming across 2 monitors, as that is a terrible idea. It puts a bezel right down the middle of your view, making it difficult to target.

I'd personally get 1 Asus PG278Q and use one of your old monitors to surf. Not only do you get the high refresh rate, which I like a lot, you get a decent resolution, but not so big that it is difficult to drive with current GPU's. 4k would be very nice at the desktop, and while good in games, it does require a lot of muscle to drive.

I have converted about 1/3 of the movies from my childhood and scanned around 1500 35MM negs of who knows how many are in a box I spend 2 hours each night and up to 8 hours each weekend scanning and converting and while am doing that I play D3, eq2, PA or WFTO a single larger monitor for games would be nice dual 780 should run 2x 24's and a 28' if I keep my 2 24's I can be scanning on one transcoding video and still play games I could live with that.

Again, playing on 2 monitors at once is a horrible idea. 3 monitors or 1 monitor, but not 2. The center of the action, the where your character is, will be split in half, or not visible if you use bezel correction. Your crosshairs will be missing or split across the bezels. It is just not a good idea. If you want to game across multiple monitors and have a monitor for your videos, get 4. 2 for gaming and 1 for videos is just not a reasonable option.

Never said I would be playing on two monitors said I would be playing on 1 monitor, scanning and converting on the others

Thanking I am going to get a Single 28 as my main keep my two 24's for ripping and editing video pretty sure 2 780's will push them all
