So I have basically nailed down all parts of my build except for the GPU. I have narrowed it down to two cards:

www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681420207...

www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681413094...

These two cards are the exact same price (and that price is the max of my budget for a GPU) and both have great reviews. I know the 780 would be a bit smaller, quieter, cooler, and use less power but I just want to know which would yield the best results for gaming.

Thanks

Well the 290x will have a better advantage at 4k and has Mantle along with 3 free games while Watch Dogs needs to be optimized. So depends on your res and games you play.

It would not be a bad choice to get a cheaper 290x and add a liquid cooler or even a 290 and overclock it.

If you can get them both for the same price I would suggest the 780 3gb of ram is good enough for up to about 1600p. And the 780 has a lower top and runs cooler. If you end up water cooling you can get a good oc on it, better than the r9 290x

GPU boss scores are really close, but recommends the 780: http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Sapphire-Radeon-R9-290X-vs-EVGA...

Really depends on the price, I personally prefer the 290x for the extra GB of memory and a more future-proof design, plus they can usually be found for cheaper than the 780.

290X will outperform a 780 in gaming. The extra VRAM will help at high res.

290X hands down (I have a 780)
