Ok, so, I'm new to this site, joined like 15 minutes ago, and this is my first thread/question/post thing, so, sorry if I do anything wrong.

So, about a year ago, I started having problems with my computer not running certain programs, like World in Conflict, which requires a high amount of processing power for its graphics, and I mean A LOT. The computer would run it for a bit, then the graphics would start "failing." Like they wouldn't load or there would be more than 1 of that object in place. My brother said it was processing the graphics more than the game could handle, like the computer was running the same graphic or line of code in 2 different places. This would make the game overload and fail, crashing it. I thought nothing of it, it only just made me mad cause I couldn't get it to stay running again, even when I returned the computer to factory settings, meaning it literally deletes everything on the computer, then reinstalls all the files that was on it when it just left the factory. It still worked and ran other high processing demanding games and programs, but over the past few months, it's gotten worse. I'm not able to open most files that I download, like 98%. Zip and Rar files I can't open, it's says I don't have this program needed to open it. So I download WinZip, which I was able to install, and it's says the file is corrupt or end of archive, and I can't get anything out of the zip file. Before that, I was mostly getting BOSD saying Memory_Management. I was kinda mad cause it delayed the booting of my computer, but it really didn't effect it. But then it started giving me the BOSD with IRDQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL_TO, or something like that. (Idk if the IRDQ is IRDQ, though IR was there) Then, my computer wouldn't be able to run complex programs. For some reason, when I try going online, it only lets me on certain websites that the computer has been on RECENTLY, meaning that it'll allow the browser to accept the web address and it'll start loading, but it never loads the page, even if I let it load for more than an hour without doing anything else to it. But it started getting worse and half the time I can't boot up my computer cause it keeps going to BSOD, literally repeating the BSOD restart cycle for hours.

I've talked to some IT guys and they say it sounds like a bad or corrupt RAM chip. By the way, my computer has 2 RAM slots, with a max of 4GB each, meaning 8GB total RAM. Right now I have 4GB total RAM, or should. If it's a bad RAM chip, then I'm only running off of 1 2GB RAM chip. So, I went searching online for a new chip and found 3 different types. A 1GB, a 2GB, and a 4GB. I wanted a 4GB chip, but didn't want to pay for an 8GB RAM chip set, which is around $80-$90. I want more processing power than before, so, I would be able to have a faster computer. When I had 4GB it was pretty fast for my needs, but I want 6GB so I could be set, just in case I needed the extra 2GB. So, enough of all that, now to the question.

Would someone tell me what would really happen, and the risks, if I have a 2GB RAM chip and a 4GB RAM chip in the computer, totaling 6GB. People are saying that it's better to have RAM chips with the same memory amount. But, really, what are the risks that could happen to my computer? And what should I do if I chose to have a 2GB and a 4GB chips? Oh, I forgot to mention, I have DDR3 chips and here is the site for buying RAM chips for my computer: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-memory-for/Acer/aspire-5755g-6841

I'm running Windows 7 with Intel iCore 5 or 3. I think 5

running mixed ram depends on the motherbd.

At BEST With a 2 and a 4 it may run 2gb on the 4gb in dual channel mode with the other 2gb ram stick and then run the remaining 2gb (on the 4gb) in single channel mode. This usually requires the ram stick to be put in certain slots and in a certain order so check your owners manual plz.

At WORST it will run both ram sticks in single channel mode which is slower than dual channel mode if you didnt know that.

What's your mobo, CPU and the model #s of the DRAM? Can get all from CPU-Z, a free app you can download....Also might well want to run a Malware check (malwareBytes has a free version) and a virus scan, also ensure you have open space on your hard drive....Get the component info requested above and we can see about setting up the DRAM optimally (if it can be done)
