I have a new Intel i7 920 and a DX58so board and want to buy 12 or 16 GB for a gaming PC. Which memory is best? The Latency and timing varies a lot amongst PC1600 memory. What should I look for??? Not ever planning on overclocking it... Plan on using a GeForce 770 or Radeon R9 video card.

look online on intel mb support page for that motherboard and pick up ram that on the ram guild. or look on crucial web page using the ram advisor for set of ram kits for your mb. with some of the older motherboards from intel not all of the newer ram will work. (some mb are picky on the ram you use).

PC1600? That is OLD. That is back in DDR. I am assuming you mean DDR3-1600 MHz. First thing - you should have, in my opinion, bought a Haswell CPU like the i5 4690K or the i7 4790K, because they have GREAT memory controllers. I am talking overclocking to 3000 MHz + on some as I have seen. I would say CL7 or CL8 1600 MHz RAM is the best. The R9 280 is on sale right now. It has 28 cores (1792 Shaders) and runs all modern games (excluding Crysis 3) at Ultra settings at 1080p, provided it is not CPU bottlenecked, which in your case, it shouldn't really be, especially if you do overclock. Get 16 GB of DDR3-1600 CL8 RAM for a good Price/Performance Ratio. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148657 would be amazing in a gaming PC.
Thanks Andrew. I did mean DDR3-1600. I didn't just buy this mobo and CPU. I've had it for several years and I am going to build a gaming PC for a friend's son that has muscular dystrophy and since I already had the board and CPU, there's more money for the graphics card and other components.

Yes, that is great for your intentions of use. I have a friend with Snipers and they are great (much better than mine). 1600 MHz is what most games recommend and work the best with. Other than that, the 2700K is a great CPU and will overclock past 5 GB if you get a decent chip.
