hi there my pc often gets too hot and I end up taking the side panel of my pc to keep it cool is this bad for it as dust can easily get in then I usually leave my side panel of all the time so is it safe and can dust damage components

Solution
The dust won't damage anything - except as I will explain later. You can also always clean the dust off. The risk of causing electrical faults is probably much greater - things can get in there and mess up. fingers - cats, cockroaches - you name it. They can get in the fans or short out a part of the circuitry.

TH excess dust can interfere with cooling though. It acts as an insulator and prevents the transfer of heat to the air, so the components get hotter and things like the fans and heatsinks get less effective.

A better solution is to get fans with filters or the intakes and then close the case up and move the air in a directed fashion over all the components.

the only issue with dust...been a tech a long time is it can clog your fans. most times it take as long time in a home for it to do that. unless you have a long hair cats.... every week i can make a new cat from the cat hair on there chair they sleep on in my home. with dust if you have a friend that has a air compressor you use the spray air tip blow your case out once a year and you be fine.
