Hi there,
I just put together a new system for a friend of mine and after installing Windows 7 and the motherboard drivers, upon reboot the keyboard and mouse will only work in safe mode. Have done a fair bit of researching but none of the solutions I have found on this and other forums have been successful.

The pc specs are as follows;
Intel Core i5-4460 @3.20GHz
4GB Ram
Gigabyte H97M-HD3 Mobo
Coolermaster V450 Power Supply
500gb HHD
Windows 7 Home Premium

Any help is greatly appreciated!

(Feel free to move this thread/advise me to post elsewhere, fairly new to this forum)

Solution
Here is a possible solution:

1. Go to your device manager (Right click Computer, click manage, select device manager)

2. Right click the device name in the list that corresponds to your keyboard

3. Click update software driver, click browse computer for drivers

4. Click search from a list of existing drivers

5. Uncheck show compatible hardware

6. Select microsoft on the left side

7. Select Microsoft Basic Keyboard

8. Click next and install the driver.

Do the same for the mouse except select Microsoft Basic Mouse.

Then restart your computer in normal mode, and if the keyboard and mouse work, reinstall the drivers from the manufacturer website.

Good luck, hope this helps.

Hello, I know this was a long time ago but I was wondering what to click for the mouse if "Microsoft Basic Mouse" did not show up. Whether the same person answers or not, it's okay to me, just looking for help. Thank you.
