Is my Nvidia gpu broken? (Driver issues carrying on after clean Windows install)

Hey guys!

The last couple of days I've spent a lot of time troubleshooting my laptop, and while my problem still persists I really like how friendly and helpful most of you are!

My issue:

A couple of days ago when I was playing FIFA 14 on my Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook NH532, the computer randomly shut down. No BSOD or anything, everything just went black. When I turned the computer back on again, BSOD greeted me when I signed into Windows (8.1), sadly I can't remember which ones (there were two). I spent a good while trying to figure out what was going on and eventually I uninstalled my Nvidia drivers with DDU in safe mode and after that, the computer was running fine when using the integrated graphics.

I then tried to install many of the different Nvidia drivers for my card (337.88 being the latest one (downloaded from Nvidia) 305.46 being the oldest one (downloaded from Fujitsu). What happened then is that thing where the drivers crash and recover. After that the computer freezes.

I have tried to make a clean Windows install (wiped the entire harddrive) and the problem is still there. I have no warranty left on my laptop. Is it very likely that I am screwed here?

Thanks guys!

I never received a recovery disk with my laptop. And after the clean install, the integrated graphics are working just fine. It's as soon as I install any sort of Nvidia drivers that the computer starts crashing.

Your GPU probably overheated. The sudden shutdown can cause corruption sometimes. And it's possible the GPU itself could have been damaged. Gaming on laptops is not recommended unless you have something like a cooling pad or at least keep the bottom elevated where air can circulate.

No error messages at all. I'm doing a chkdsk right now, will post when it's done.

So I did the Check Disk and then I reinstalled the Nvidia driver (337.88) and the same thing still happens.

The BSOD I'm getting now is: DPC_Watchdog_Violation
