Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my girlfriends laptop processor.
It's a HP 1000 notebook, but I can't find specs on google.
It has an AMD E1-2100 apu Radeon with hd graphics 1ghz and I'm pretty sure it's ft3 socket?
I'd like to get an intel i3 maybe 2nd gen so that it's not too expensive. Would I have to change motherboard too? Can someone help me out please and thank you.

It's pretty much impossible to upgrade a laptop.

You're not going to be able to upgrade to a completely different platform.

It's not possible. Even if you could in rare cases, it's not worth it unless you got the CPU for free. If the CPU is too slow, it's time for a new laptop.

Oh really? I thought it was the same process as desktop only with mobile version CPUs. That's depressing :/

Yeah. The unfortunate thing with notebooks is that most times the motherboard is designed around the notebook chassis itself. But along with that you will often see that CPU soldered to the motherboard and sometimes even the memory is soldered. Most of the time you will only be able to upgrade the memory and the HDD. So basically when you make your purchase make sure you have the CPU and GPU you want.

Not at all like that, that's why it's recommended not to buy a laptop just because of a cheap price unless you know that a low end system is all that is needed, for email or basic web use for example.

The only valid reason to buy a laptop is if you have to cary it arround a lot and want batteries :)

I think AMD A6 can be placed on FT3. A6 has similar performance with intel i3 because A6 has better gpu.
But you have to chek is the apu on socket or onboard. If it is onboard than forget changing the apu
