Hello wonderful people of TomsHardware!

Today Im looking for an answer to a hard to explain question. First, I have an RM 850w PSU and a GTX 780 that I need to power. If I was not sleeving all the cables, this would be a no brainer (Just plug the cables in). Only problem is that I am sleeving and I cannot sleeve double cables like this. So I am thinking that I cut the one of the double wires at the connector, then solder it down lower, using the technique seen in this video.

Now, my question is weather or not this will change the watts/voltages and fry my graphics card right when I hook it up using this method. Am I safe to use this without frying my shiny 780?

PS: Amazing paint skills to try and show what I'm planning on doing: http://imgur.com/cu1iJgJ Also, of course I'd have to do this with all 6 of the double cables.

Thanks in advance for all replies!

If you need any more info I'd be happy to supply it :)

As long as you are using proper solder (Silver with flux core usually does it) and know have to properly solder, there should be no problem. I would suggest you properly prepare each wire by tinning it for a better finish and contact between the wires.
