Hello Forum:
My house is wired with Cat5. I have a 20Mb/2Mb connection from a Time Warner modem, through an airport extreme, and out through the wall into an 8 port Gigabit switch which then feeds a cat5 connection into each room of my house.
In my TV room I am trying to split the ethernet line by using a five port, 10/100 Linksys switch (EZXS55w). The reason for this is so I can have an ethernet cable going into the TV and PS3 at the same time.
The problem I have is that I am getting slow speeds(edit: about 5Mbs). Im an absolute newbie to networking but my instinct is that it has to due with the fact that I am using two switches inline, or maybe the slower 10/100 switch is faulty in some way. I am hoping to get some advice before I run out and buy a new gigabit switch for the TV room.
Thanks All.
