Simple question but I dont find much help on it anywhere
When you connect a couple of computers via a homegroup and you transfer files between them
You get great speeds over an Ethernet cable
But if you use Wireless/WiFi connexion, whats the deal - The speed you get is dependent on you Broadband plan? and also uses up your FUP? Or it works in some other way? By maybe using the Router's 2,4GHz or something such?

As you may have noticed I know almost nothing about the intricacies of wireless networking

Cheers

Transferring files between two computers on a network has nothing to do with your Broadband plan, unless you are streaming from an online site. If it's purely an internal transfer then the speeds will depend on your router and computer network cards.

2.4GHz refers to the band your wireless router and computer receiver uses. You will either have 5GHz, which is less cluttered than 2.4GHz but also has a shorter range, or 2.4GHz, which is the most common. Both your router and receiving equipment need to use the same frequency.
