Good day

The server at our small business got an electric shock, so the whole computer doesn't work anymore. Windows server 2003 that is on the servers hdd, doesn't start up anymore. Blue screen. Our technician is gone for a week, so I am trying to fix this on my own, because we need the internet.

So I installed Windows server 2012. The only problem now is the internet, it doesn't work. Funny thing, almost nothing works only Skype connects to the internet. All I know is, that with our old server, the server has to be on so that the Internet works. The computers on the network can connect to each other. There is just something wrong with the servers Internet settings.

Hope somebody can help.

Solution
go to control panel and select network and internet settings then internet options - can be done from internet explorer too - and make sure that Proxy is not ticked on the office machines. Its possible that the old server was used as a proxy to control the internet access - however poorly - available in the office so is worth a look.

This is how the settings was on every office computer:
Ip 192.168.0.???
Subnetmask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.0.254
DNS Server 192.168.0.1

Our servers Ip was also 192.168.0.1
