I have an HP laptop with 4gb ram with an empty slot. I want to upgrade to 8gb. My installed ram is Hynix Part #:
4GB 3rx8 PC3 - 12800S-11-11-F3
HMT351S6CFR8C-PB NO AA 1237.
I can find ram on the internet but my one question is....Do I have to match the 1237 number at the end?
I can find sticks with the same information except for these last numbers.

Solution
Those last 4 numbers do not matter.

You are doing too much work to EXACTLY match the RAM. Any 4GB laptop DIMM / DDR3 1600 (12800) will work.

Your current RAM has a CAS latency of 11, and 99% of new RAM will be that fast or faster. So, there's not need to worry about CAS latencies.
