Making a long overdue move from an EVGA LGA775 to an Asus LGA 1150. Below is my shopping list. Please let me know if I forgot something, especially power or cooling related. I am assuming that all components below are supplied with stock cooling and all interface cables included. The SSD drive is a first for me and will be used as my system drive. The only thing migrating from my old setup is four WD Black 1TB drives. I am not a gamer, just do a lot of photo editing and some basic home video editing so if you think anything is overkill please let me know so I can save a few bucks.

Asus Maximus VI Hero LGA 1150 Z87
Intel Core i7-4770 Haswell
8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3 2400
Asus GeForce GTX 660 GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0
Samsung 840 256GB MLC SSD (for system drive and apps - Windows 7 64-bit)
Corsair HX750 Power Supply
Cooler Master HAF X Full Tower
2x Asus Blu-Ray Burner

If that isn't the i7-4770k then not really a good combination. For overclocking you will want an aftermarket heatsink.
If you are not overclocking, you can spend a lot less on the motherboard.
GTX760 would be a slightly wiser investment.
Samsung 840 Pro is a just a little bit faster for not a lot more money. (Nothing wrong with the 840)

Not overclocking. What Asus mobo would you recommend for that chip?

I meant the Samsung Pro 840, my bad.

GTX760s are at least $50 more than I'm even willing to spend on the GTX660. Not really a gamer...in fact I'm happy with my 8800GS that I've had for a couple of years now so even the GTX660 is a major upgrade for me.

Then I have plenty of suggestions... Save a lot on the motherboard, nothing wrong with the Hero, use one myself, just has a lot of gaming and overclocking features you wouldn't need. There are some more expensive ASUS motherboards out there as well.

Money saved on the board lets you get a cheaper, newer, motherboard, and a faster processor. The base and boost clocks of the i7-4790 are a bit higher and the chip supposedly runs about 10C cooler. Added the heatsink for noise reduction, since you will be video editing the stock fan would rev up (and knowing Intel they probably made the heatsink smaller then the i7-4770 to save on costs)

G.Skill Ripjaw in this build has a CAS of 10, which is quite low for DDR3 2400 (only cost five bucks over CAS11)

Thanks for the recommendations but I already placed my order with NewEgg yesterday because I wanted to get the parts before the holiday weekend. I'm sticking with the stock cooling for now. I don't do extensive video editing, just basic splicing, fades, etc. The majority of my PC use is for photo editing with Adobe Lightroom. At least I'll know that this new config should last me a good 5+ years which is what I got out of my EVGA LGA 775 + Core 2 Duo setup (6 years actually...which is a personal best for me).
