Hello, I have a Dell Dimension 9150 from 2006. It has all its original parts, but I brought my Nvidia 660 ti graphics card and 2x 4GB Ballistix Tactical RAM sticks from my other computer, as I'll be living in my parents' house over the summer and need to play some games. I have two problems/questions:
1. I'm running Windows XP. Will it be able to utilize the 8GB of RAM?
2. My old-ass power supply gives an incredible 150W and my 660ti needs 450W. If I buy a new power supply will it work with the old motherboard, CPU(Intel Pentium D 2,80Ghz), etc.?

Solution
1. no, also the 9150 uses DDR2, DDR3 will not work at all
2. yes
Note: that cpu is going to be a massive bottleneck, and many games aren't going to run well or at all.

RAM: No, your old OS is probably a 32bit XP install, it will only recognize a Maximum of 4GB, and probably won't use all of that.
PSU: Maybe, maybe not. I haven't time to research your Dell (heading to Dr.) but that was about the time Dell stopped using proprietary parts, including PSUs, so your Dell may still be a "Dell Parts Only' unit. Contact Dell directly to see if your new PSU will work or you can unplug the old oe and actually compare the wiring leads on the motherboard plug - the color of the wires into the plug must perfectly match the one from Dell. There are also some on-line vids. and documentation to help you; Google it to bring up the info.
