Hi

I'm new to overclocking but I have noticed that core temp reports a power draw for my i7-2600k @ 4.5ghz of up to 105 watts.

However, the tdp reported by core temp is 95 watts so I don't know if I'm damaging my motherboard or something.

My motherboard is supposed to be quite good for overclocking (asus p8p67 pro).

Should I be worried about this or it's normal to go slightly above the tdp when doing serious overclocking? Thanx

Overclocking consumes more power, so you're bound to go over the TDP. Nothing to worry about :)

From the Intel Temperature Guide - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1800828/intel-temp...

"Overclocking and Vcore

Overclocked processors can reach 130% to 150% of their TDP envelope (Thermal Design Power) when using either auto or manual Vcore ... "

Give the Guide a read.
