Hello,

I have a laptop with an Intel i5 2450m CPU. I noticed recently that (according to Core Temp and CPU-Z) the CPU will undervolt to about 0.8V when idle but will not underclock at all.

Regardless of the power management settings in Windows (0% minimum CPU power state), the CPU frequency sticks to about 2494.5 MHz (99.8 x 25.0).

Any ideas how to fix this? Or is this normal behaviour for this particular CPU?

Thanks!

Do you have High Performance power plan on instead of the Balanced plan?

I have a i5 2410M (identical model as yours but with a lower clock speed) and the balanced plan makes my cpu unerclock to 768mhz aswell as 0.8Vcore. Whereas the High Performance power plan keeps my vcore at 1.something and at 2.3Ghz without underclocking.

I have tried Balanced, Energy Saving, and High Performance power plans but they all result in the same. The voltage steps down fine but the clock remains the same.

I'm wondering could it possibly be a software (reporting) issue?

Double checked with the latest version of CPU-Z - looks like I guessed right, the CPU frequency does indeed seem to be changing down to about 800 minimum. Thanks anyways!
