I'm fairly new to computers, the other day I was playing battlefield 3 and I noticed extremely high temperatures coming from my cpu, (amd a10-5700) and instinctively I shut down my system to let it cool, after a while I booted it back up and noticed idle temps of 70-80°c so I shut it back down and it's been off for a while now and I just needed some insight as to why the extreme temperatures, I recently upgraded my Gpu as well to a Radeon r7 265 2gb, also I have not done or attempted any overlooking. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Get an aftermarket cooler. Those temps are very high. Take a look at this: http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Hyper-212-RR-212E-2...

1) Blow out the dust bunnies from fans, fins, corners, and PSU.
2) Review the airflow. If you have a cheap case - consider upgrading with something that has good airflow.
3) Consider an aftermarket cooler.

Make sure your CPU voltage isn't on automatic. Also, turn off integrated graphics in BIOS. Plug into the GPU, not the motherboard for the display.

I had an issue with incorrect temperatures showing. Go to the BIOS and see what your CPU temp is. Use AMD Overdrive for temperatures, too.

Upon bootup the bios say it is at 50+ and it keeps rising, right now HWMonitor is reading 59 degrees, it keeps bouncing around from 60-70 right now

Your cooler looks like it is probably not working correctly. Maybe invest in an aftermarket cooler, not powerful, but something like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo.

Make sure you have good thermal paste and that there is no material in the socket.
