Pixelated screen, BSOD... Is it the GPU or PSU??

Hello, I faced an annoying problem recently..... When ever i try to play some games (Like Skyrim) or open even an app like Google chrome.... the screen gets pixelated or shows weird lines and restarts.... sometimes shows the BSOD.... I took various steps like
1. Re-installed windows including formatting my HDD
2. Updated my drivers to latest version
3. Rechecked all the connections and rams and the gpu too
4. ran in safe mode to check for errors

In all these the problem persisted...... then i removed my gpu (as i learned that it can also be caused by hardware that was recently installed and i recently bought a new gpu- Sapphire Radeon R7 250 1gb gddr5 with boost) and used the on board one. Now magically the problem is not occurring any more and didn't show up even when i ran Skyrim for more than 1.5 hours. It didn't occur when i used my old GPU (Sapphire radeon HD 4670) too.

Now i am alittle confused as which one is causing the problem..... The GPU or the power supply.
FYI: I am using a non brand PSU

Solution

Yeah, you can rule out the PSU unless it is defective. Seems pretty likely that the GPU is the issue.

So your saying now the problem is gone and your asking what it could have been? Those issues usually are caused by GPU memory issues, or inconsistent voltage to the GPU. Reseating the Card via removing it and replacing it may have been enough to fix a random issue calling for you to reseat the GPU. (it happens)

No.... I want to use my new GPU but I can't beacuse of this problem...... when ever i use the R7 250 the problem reappears...... As I have warranty for my GPU..... If the GPU is the culprit I am going to claim..... if its the PSU, well, then i ahve to buy a new one.. :(

Im going to say it is most likely the GPU, event though it doenst require extra power, it might not be getting enough from your PSU. It needs about 380 Watts... so I would verify your psu can push that. and get a new one any way... considering its a no-name.

It seems I forgot to mention one thing...... the problem occurred after installing the non brand psu i bought recently.... the previous one was a non brand too but that time I didn't face this problem...... this is the reason of my confusion of whether it is the gpu or psu..... The old one (Sapphire Radeon HD 4670) works with the new psu without any problem... the on board one too

r7 250 doesn't take an extra 12v pwr connector. and a 380w requirement really resolves even having to worry about the slot power if he has anything over 450w
