Dual Monitor Motherboard and GPU output issue

I recently got my hands on this old monitor my family was throwing away, so I decided to try this dual monitor thing a try. It was all going fine until I tried opening several streams at the same time in my first and second monitor, which shouldn't be an issue for my pc, (I'll list the components below). It started slowing down like it never has before.

After investigating a bit I realized it was probably because they are split between the motherboard and the GPU. Both monitors are vga so I couldn't plug them both in the graphics card. Should I buy an adapter or something along those lines, or can this issue be solved right away?

I built this pc almost two years ago, the major components are:
Intel Core i5-2500K
Radeon 7870
8Gbs Ram
ASrock pro4

get into the bios and somewhere along the line of PCI/PNP or graphic control or advanced bios features (depending on the bios) look for the "primary graphics" tab (loose term, could be anything close to this). Change that to onboard instead of PCI. this should force the computer to boot using your onboard graphics while using your GPU as an external controller (i haven't found anything regarding that limiting the performance. It should work just fine as it did before)
Best of luck,

^that solution is for you to not spend any money on an adapter. You will NOT get the GPU performance on that monitor that is plugged into your onboard. (WARNING: if you use that solution you will have to go into some games config files to change the default monitor from 1 to 2 - even though windows will say one is one, it is actually 1=2 and 2=1 (depending on which you made your primary monitor)

if that doesn't make sense, i apologize, i'm quite tired.

there are adapters that will allow you to use both outputs on your GPU, most common is dvi-vga. you can pretty much get them anywhere, maybe even walmart. They are relatively cheap. (looks like this - https://www.google.com/search?site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1024&bih=643&q=dvi+to+vga&oq=dvi+to+v&gs_l=img.3.0.0l10.1099.2672.0.3680.8.7.0.0.0.0.191.470.0j3.3.0....0...1ac.1.48.img..5.3.469.jH1kQFzXZjA&gws_rd=ssl)

Best of luck,

I see, so really if I want the best out of my GPU I'll have to buy an adapter. Many thanks to the both of you for taking your time to help me. They also seem quite cheap so I'll go get one tomorrow.
