1080p on 1080p screen vs 1080p on 3K screen?

Hello all,
I have a fairly simple question today, on the differences between 1080p and 3K. My question is this: Will 1080p running on a 3K screen look as "good" as 1080p running on a 1080p screen. I've seen people talking about possible distortion and blurriness when running 1080p on a 3K screen, but I just wanted a definite answer.

Techy is right, it would be similar to running a 240p youtube video in fullscreen on a 1080p monitor. It gets blocky as those pixels are forced to be stretched out and compensate for the larger screen estate but smaller input resolution.

So are you saying that for 1080p the 1080p sceen is better? (It does sound kind of obvious I guess...) and that 1080p on 3K will be blurry and distorted? (Just to make sure...)

Correct. You can also go for a monitor with a resolution in the middle as well. 1440p might be a happy medium?
