Hello Forumgoers, like exactly what it says in the title, I would like to know the cheapest or least power CPU option needed to max out or almost max out GPU Power on 2x Powercolor Radeon R9 280x Crossfire rig. I'm mostly asking this because I managed to get 2 of them for $350, but I would still like to be a bit budget minded so that's why I'm asking the forums.
As for Intel options, I saw the Haswell Pentium that just came out as a good option imo (I don't mind overclocking it, and I will get a liquid cooler nonetheless so yeah). I saw that it could go up to 4.6 GHz on max overclock, but at the same time I'm wondering if the dual core would be enough to run much and/or be adequate for the cards. I could potentially look into an i3 4330 or similar as well, but I haven't heard much about it other than it gets heavily outclassed by a AMD FX-6300...
However, I would prefer to not spend absurd amounts on just the cpu, so I will probably not go and get a i5-4670k, i7-4870k, or FX-9590.
As for AMD options, the main one I was thinking of the AMD FX-4130 as I can get a good deal, and whether it would be enough to adequately not bottleneck the GPUs (I would be overclocking it of course). However, I can most likely find a good deal for the AMD FX-6300 as well so I have no qualms about getting that, other than will it be good enough for the cards. I will probably not go for a FX-8320 or FX-8350 through, as I can't really get them that cheap and if I was forced to get a $150 cpu I would think a lower end haswell i5 would be much better.
Also, what is the PSU needed for these cards? I know that it has at least come with 4x PCIe connectors, but other than that I don't know much more. Do I just add the TDP's together in this case? I would think a 700W-800W should be good enough but what are your guys thoughts?
Thanks for reading my giant wall of text and answering in advance!
TLDR: I has 2x R9 280x wat do?
