AMD 7990 Won't Do 4k Resolution

I bought a Seiki 4k tv because I needed a new tv, and why not. I have it set up to my computer so that I can watch videos and the like through it, however, I cannot see to get it to do a 4k resolution. I know the tv does it because my brother has a different amd card (r something) and he plugged it in and it went automatically.

I have an Asus 7990 with 4 display ports and two DVI connections. I had some generic display port to hdmi connecter that I was using and it didn't work. So I bought a Display Port to HDMI 1.4 adapter, and plugged an HDMI 1.4 cable into it, and still nothing. Any ideas or suggestions?

I am thinking the conversion over for HDMI1.4 is where it is dying. Do you have a DVI port in the TV? Some are coming out with them, personally I am seeing to many 'Techies' I loved and trust (like Leo Leport) showing off the 21:9 Ultrawides and how much better they are then the 4Ks surprisingly. They do include DVI native ports to take directly from a GPU card

@unksol I am currently running two monitors (including the tv). One is a Dell 1080p monitor that is connected using a DVI to HDMI cord, and the tv is running on the display port to hdmi 1.4 adapter with a hdmi 1.4 cable. I will disconnect the second monitor and see if that works. Thanks

@popatim I know what refresh rates at which resolutions the tv supports. That is not the problem.

Alright, I unplugged the dell from the card and tried it with only the Seiki tv. Still only allowed a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Before I posted this I downloaded the latest drivers and all of that, and still nothing. Kind of at a lost here :|

this appears to be a tv issue (for many graphics cards and tvs). i have the same problem as of nov 11, 2014. many blogs have stated that this is a factory (RMA) issue. The tv reports the incorrect max resolution to the graphics card. the graphics card isnt going to try to force a tv past what it says it can take for resolution. unfortunately, the factories, in their hast, forget to change the firmware from HD tvs to UHD tvs. its just bad QC on their part.

i had the same problem. i had to upgrade to a hdmi 2.0 video card - then everything worked fine. i recommend asus nvidia gtx 970. super quiet, reasonably cheap. excellent video card.
