Effect of voltage and temperature on thermal printing

I am a newbie to the thermal printing. I wanted to know how does temperature and voltage impacts the thermal printing process? What (if any) corelation exists between printer diagnostics and the temperature and voltage paramerters?

Which voltage?

The voltage coming from the wall outlet should be translated into nice stable DC voltage by the printer's power supply.

Which temperature?

The ambient air temperature should be in a narrow range indoors. Outdoors (pay-at-the-pump / ATM) it would vary more, but the printers should be rated for operating temperatures.
