Hello all, as the title states I kinda need some views / points for my upcoming build as I think I exhausted my thinking power when deciding to go with a x79 / z97. Some background info would be that this build is for my bro. (i'm quite happy with mine) His PC is reaching the point where upgrades are just being bottlednecked by the current parts. Personally I'm quite out of trend with current tech until I started to look again with this task at hand. But after reading a bit I'm not into building a new PC till intel's boardwell line up comes out as the new chips are just a haswell refresh, but bro wants a new rig in couple of weeks so.

So I went to PCpartpicker and got to work.

Note: RAM, SSD, GPU in the link are carry overs and can be used so I use them as a filler in the build. I have some other 8gb / 16gb dual sets and SSD's. I only put 2 SSD's for now as I'm not quite sure if he should just buy 2 larger ones for RAID.

So right now he's using 1 of 4 LG 27EA83R monitors around our house. But he's thinking of getting that new Asus 4k monitor. Problem I see is that those 2 670's won't satisfy his eyes with that resolution. But IDM buying the monitor as I was thinking of getting one so I can use it ;P especially if he can't.

I always been a Asus fan, and have 100% satisfaction from them, but to you mobo experts. Is their another board I should consider as I'm kinda iffy on features from other brands and maybe point out if I could save money with going a tier lower/model.

Another question I'm confuse about is, does sata express boost current SSD performance? I think I read somewhere it could, so from asus site the mobo I picked has 2 connections so I should be able to RAID the 2 SSD to get much better performance compare to say a x79 setup on sata 6. SSD prices have become really affordable but I only had experience with intel SSD's and satisfied with all 14 of them. However the storage of 360gb won't be enough so should if I were to shell out some $ for another 1 or 2 SSD's which should I look for? I'm currently would just blindly pick the intel 730 or samsung evo as a cost effective one and heard some good things of it.

thx for reading all
