What is ReadyBoost and should I use it ?

Hi,

I've just installed my Samsung 840 Evo 120GB and I found ' Readyboost ' . What does it do , and should I use it ? Does it take up a lot of space ? Does it truly boost my PC ? Any downsides ?

Any input would be appreciated

It's supposed to allocate some of the space to be used as working memory. It sucks, don't use it.

Ready boost is 100% a waste of time , doesn't help.

Your EVO will give you a boost , readyboost is worthless.

In computing, ReadyBoost is a disk caching software component of Windows Vista and later Microsoft operating systems. It allows any compatible mass storage device to be used as a temporary hard-drive memory cache for the purpose of increasing access speed to the hard drive. Potentially compatible ReadyBoost devices include USB flash drives,

not really viable for a everyday solution and not perfomant.

ReadyBoost is a waste if you have >1GB of RAM.
