I've had my laptop now for over a year. Although its only a sony vaio its always been able to run most games smoothly, until recently. This morning my laptop wouldn't run any games. Everything seemed fine as I turned on the laptop and logged into steam. Then when I tried to run company of heroes I received a graphics card report saying "unable to find a working fullscreen mode". I was unsure why this was happening as I've always been able to run the game at over 50 fps on high settings. Later I began receiving the same reports as I tried running Skyrim and Warthunder. I've even received crash reports for TF2 and Minecraft. Nothing else has changed on the laptop. It still runs smoothly as it always has only it wont run any games. I'm unsure why this is happening as I never messed around with the internal components of the laptop and I never did anything to damage the laptop. Would anyone know why this is happening or if it has to do with something besides my graphics card.

I have a Sony Vaio with an intel i3 core processor and an intel hd graphics card.
Thank you

I've tried to update the video card drivers but every time I click on update I get a message saying "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware". If you know a reason why this is happening please let me know. Also my screen has a fixed resolution so it cant be changed. In the mean time, I'll try to look for other options.

I meant the opposite, if you had changed the resolution or drivers prior to the problem. If you search your error "unable to find a working fullscreen mode" online there are a massive amount of posts online, most of them relating to Company of Heroes. You might skim through those.
