Hi,

I got an Asus laptop from the N56 series about a month ago. At first it was practically inaudible. But then I played some games on it for like 2 days, about 8-10 hours of Team Fortress 2 and some minor stuff, and now the laptop is relatively loud even when idle. Not outright noisy, but definitely audible and quite distracting. The CPU runs at about 44-46 Celsius when idle, which is about the same as when I got it. The specs are Intel Core i5 3230M, Nvidia GT 750M, 6GB RAM. So, what do you think it is? Could it be some software or hardware issue or just dust?

Thanks.

Solution

Repairs are usually done by less than highly qualified people. Similar to automotive repairs. That's why I do not recommend repairs especially on a new laptop.

If the store does not have the same model request them to replace with something else equal or better. This is their problem; don't make it yours.

I had the same problem with my client's Asus N56v laptop. Fan noise just too loud and it wouldn't go away for a month. The laptop was not hot at all. The solution to the problem was shut down the computer, took the battery out, let it sit for a minute or so and put it back in. Fan noise was gone completely. Give this a try before going further. Hope this help!

Hi tenfosolutions, thanks so much for your help. I did the same and it worked a treat, but the noise came back again today. Do you think it is a long term problem, Has it come up for your client again since you took out the battery?

Many thanks for your help, and to all of you on this forum.
