I have seen several other links related to this, but I'm having trouble with the existing solutions.

The goal: Connect my HP Pavillion dv6 (GPU: AMD 6770M) via HDMI to my Panasonic HD TV ( tc p42s2)..

The primary problem: When completing the connection above, a significant portion of the edges of the desktop (viewport in general) are outside of the television's screen.

I have read that the AMD Catalyst Control Center (CCC) is supposed to have an option to rescale a screen, but I do not have this option. I have also read that the option to do this was removed from some versions of CCC, and that I should completely remove all AMD software and reinstall the drivers from AMD.

So I use the 'remove software' option from the CCC install manager, then DDU to do the rest of the clean up. After clean up, Windows automatically installs the GPU driver on restart, and when I download a new version of CCC from the AMD website, it is no different from what I had before, i.e. no option to resize the screen.

There appear to be two options, one suggested by the AMD Gaming Evolved:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+7+-+64#amd-catalyst-packages

And one specifically suggested when I enter my PC info (Notebook-Win7 x64-Radeon HD-6XXXM series) in the Drivers/Support website:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows%207%20-%2064#amd-catalyst-packages

I have also read that the issue could be the TV itself, but it does not have any useful options for reducing the viewport. There is zoom in, but not zoom out. And the aspect ratio can only be set to 4:3 or the default aspect ratio.

I even tried downloading an old version of CCC from oldapps.com, but I am suprised to find that the AMD Install Manager (which appears to be new, even after use the AMD Install Manager to remove itself and DDU) runs and the log suggests that the old software was not installed. Very strange.

Any suggestions?
