hi,
I am currently using monitor having VGA plugin recently i installed a graphics card that has DVI plug and also VGA .Does buying a DVI to VGA converter makes any difference or is it just the name.

Solution
if the monitor has only a vga input it makes no difference if you connect it to dvi->vga - vga or directly on the vga output. if you have a dvi or hdmi input on the monitor definitely use the dvi output, it should look a bit better.

DVI is able to sustain a higher bandwidth. The signal through it is digital. It is able to sustain higher resolutions and refresh rates.
VGA is analog. Lower bandwidth. Sustains lower res, 2k at most at 83hz refresh rate
