Is Increasing Resolution Necessary?

Here is my problem.

I'm concerned about the resolution that I will game on. First, here is my build:

Combo Deal:
MSI z97-GD65 Gaming
Intel i5 4670k
Hyper X Fury Black 8 GB Ram
Rosewill Stallion 600 W
$489.99

GPU: ASUS GTX 780ti $664.99

HDD : WD Black Series 1 TB 7200 RPM $79.99

SSD : Samsung 840 EVO 256 GB $144.99

Case: Cooler Master HAF 932 $139.99

CPU Fan: Cooler Master Evo 212 $35.99

DVD Drive 19.99

Total Price: $1575

I'm planning to game on the 1080p monitor that I already have, but I'm aware that my graphics card will destroy anything at 1080p. But, if I switch to a higher resolution like 2560x1600, I will have to buy a brand new monitor, and be paying for decreased framerate.

I guess my question is, would it be worth it to sacrifice some of my framerate for more pixels?

Solution
I would take 1920 x 1080 at 144 Hz over 2560 x 1600 at 60 Hz.....if I were to increase resolution, it would be via extra screens for 5760 x 1080 .... yes, again at 144 Hz.

Here's a comparison of frame rates for the nvidia lineup (760, 770 and 780) w/ up to 3 cards in SLI

Add about 14% to the 780 for 780 Ti scores.
