To remove the xp partition follow my step.
Right Click My Computer -> Manage -> Disk Management
-> Right Click the Drive of windows Xp -> then you can bring it back by
-> create new partition.. then select the letter drive you wanted and thats it.
if thats works then pick me as your solution..or PM me :) happy to serve.

What does creating a new partition have to do with removing an OS? This will not work.

Because just like surya says,, he cannot format the partition.. so its better to delete and restore to have a new space.. than using ur EasyBSD or any 3rd party application.. so you know what i mean?

I know what you mean now. You didn't properly quote electrontau's text which is where I got confused. Second, he will need something like EasyBCD in order to get rid of the extra OS (XP) entry to choose from upon boot.

Yes, I've done it. It is also why I use the bios to dual boot instead of depending on the boot manager. In order to use the bios, make sure to install the OS onto a seperate drive and disconnect all remaining drives. Reconnect all the drives only after completion of the new OS install. Now you can use the bios to select the boot drive. If later you decide to get rid of the OS, You only need delete the OS partition - no need to fuss with the boot manager.

In this video he uses bcedit instead of EasyBCD.
