I recently bought an Xbox 360 controller to use for my PC since MotioninJoy was becoming annoying and giving me blue screens. I installed the needed components to use the controller from the disk given from the box, and once I plug in my controller, the Xbox ring lights all glow, and then nothing happens. Nothing is working, solutions?

Knowing how bad it is, I never used motionjoy or whatever. If it installs any drivers of sort, be sure to clean them up, as they might conflict with the Microsoft ones.

Also, do not install drivers from disk. Let windows update download them. Always did so, always worked, so I hope for the best that it works for you too :p

I have never seen windows update have 360 controller updates. I used the disc driver and mine has performed flawlessly on my 2 pcs for years. As Vynavill said, make sure you get rid of all the motionjoy drivers. Also, once the 360 controller is on, try pushing the middle Xbox button on the controller. This might activate it for the first time.

The hell? This is weird, but funny...
The only time I had to install drivers manually was on a old WinXP from a friend... Had 2 PCs with W7 myself, or W8 from others, and they always proposed me with a driver download from Windows update servers... No need to press a thing, although I recall the 4 lights flashing without any sign of stopping. Usually, just unplugging and re-plugging the joypad fixed the issue.

Meh, it's Microsoft anyway, what did you expect? :p

Forgot to mention that those 2 pcs were running XP. Once I went dual boot with 7 on my main pc, I just plugged it in and it worked right away, no disc or anything. Forgot to mention that. But yeah, microsoft...never know what your going to get.
